Mansfield -      The 2007 freshman Field Hockey Team completed
their season with a win over Attleboro, 3-0 to end the season with a
perfect record of 14 wins with no losses. In the Attleboro win,
Lauren Boylan (two goals) Abbey Neureuter were the impact
offensive players accounting for three goals.
Kelli McPherson assisted on both of Boylan’s goals and Jenna
Morizio assisted on the last goal. Megan Alksninis (Mid-field and
goalie) and Jessica Conney (low-defense and goalie) split time in
the net to record the shutout. The Hornets recorded 11 shutouts
during the season, giving up only four goals vs. 52 scored.
   For the season, Nicole Pocello was the team’s top goal scorer
along with Amy Sterling, Neureuter and Boylan close behind.
    On the wings, Alina Birch, Brogan Buckley provided timely goals
and assists along with the strong play from Mid-fielders
McPherson, Morizio, Michelle Tortora and Amanda Connolly kept
attacking the net.
Alksninis, mid-field/low-defense with her strong free hit drives,
Paige Harrington aggressive mid-field moves, Pauline DeAndrade’s
constant pressure and strong defense by Maureen Navoni, Jessica
Conney and Ashley Upham kept the action to the opposite end
most games.
